Weather intelligence for your perfect day

About Wedderman

Wedderman is a free weather intelligence platform built to help couples make confident, data-driven decisions about their wedding day. No account needed, no fees — just reliable weather insights drawn from a decade of meteorological records.

Our Mission

Planning a wedding is one of life's most joyful — and stressful — undertakings. Choosing the right date and venue involves countless variables, and weather is the one factor couples cannot control. Yet it profoundly affects every aspect of the day, from guest comfort to photography to whether the ceremony can happen outdoors at all.

Wedderman exists to take the guesswork out of that equation. We give couples access to the same kind of historical weather analysis and multi-source forecasting that professional event planners and agricultural forecasters use — packaged in an elegant, intuitive interface that anyone can use in minutes.

We believe every couple deserves access to this data for free, regardless of their wedding budget.

How It Works

10-Year Historical Analysis

Our historical engine queries verified meteorological archives spanning the past decade. For any location on Earth, we analyse every day within your chosen season — spring, summer, autumn, or winter — and identify the statistically optimal wedding day for each year. Days are ranked by dryness first, warmth second, and sunshine duration third. The result is a clear picture of which dates and periods have consistently delivered the best wedding weather at your chosen venue.

Decadal Day History

Once you have a specific date in mind, our day history tool shows you exactly what happened on that date every year for the past 10 years. You'll see the high and low temperatures, total precipitation, hours of sunshine, and sky conditions for each year. This gives you a rain probability grounded in real observations — not a statistical model, but actual recorded weather. If your date was dry 9 out of 10 years, you can plan your outdoor ceremony with genuine confidence.

5-Provider Forecast Aggregator

When your wedding date falls within the 14-day forecast window, Wedderman aggregates predictions from five major meteorological providers and compares them in a single view. Each forecast is evaluated against ideal wedding conditions — no rain, comfortable warmth, ample sunshine — and assigned a suitability score from 0 to 100. We highlight the most optimistic provider and let you click through to verify each source directly. For dates beyond 14 days, we generate a climatological projection based on historical averages for that exact date.

Our Data Sources

Accuracy and transparency are fundamental to Wedderman. All weather data is sourced from Open-Meteo, an open-source weather API that aggregates data from national meteorological services worldwide, including NOAA (US), DWD (Germany), Météo-France, ECMWF, and many others. Historical archives extend back decades with daily resolution.

Location search and geocoding are powered by OpenStreetMap Nominatim, the community-driven open mapping platform. Our interactive maps use CartoDB tiles built on OpenStreetMap data.

We do not use proprietary, paywalled, or black-box data sources. Every data point shown in Wedderman can be independently verified through the underlying open services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Wedderman really free?

Yes, completely. There are no premium tiers, hidden fees, or feature gates. Every tool — historical analysis, day history, and forecast aggregation — is fully available to everyone at no cost. The service is supported by minimal advertising.

How accurate is the historical data?

The historical data comes from verified meteorological station records aggregated by Open-Meteo. These are the same records used by climate scientists and government agencies. For well-instrumented regions (Europe, North America, East Asia, Australia), accuracy is very high. Remote or oceanic locations may have sparser station coverage, which can reduce precision slightly.

Why do you aggregate 5 providers instead of just one?

No single forecasting model is consistently the most accurate across all regions and conditions. By comparing five independent predictions, you can gauge confidence: when all five agree, you can plan with high certainty. When they diverge, it signals genuine atmospheric uncertainty — which is valuable to know. The aggregation also helps you spot optimistic and pessimistic outliers.

Can I use Wedderman for destinations outside my country?

Absolutely. Wedderman works for any location on Earth. Simply search for your destination venue by name or drop a pin on the map. Historical data quality is highest for locations with dense weather station networks, but Open-Meteo provides global coverage through satellite reanalysis data for areas with fewer ground stations.

How far in advance should I start checking?

Start with the historical analysis as soon as you begin choosing dates — even 12+ months ahead. Historical patterns are your most reliable guide at that stage. Once you are within 14 days of the wedding, switch to the Forecast Aggregator for real-time predictions. In the final 3 days, forecast accuracy is typically above 85%, making it ideal for final venue setup decisions.

What does the suitability score mean?

The suitability score (0–100) rates each forecast against ideal outdoor wedding conditions. It considers three factors: precipitation (the heaviest penalty — rain is the biggest wedding weather risk), temperature deviation from an ideal 23°C, and sunshine hours. A score above 75 is excellent, 50–75 is good with backup plans recommended, and below 50 suggests prioritising indoor arrangements.
